I WILL BE PLAYING CHESS TODAY FOR "MEALS ON WHEELS" - I WILL ATTEMPT TO RAISE OVER $300 DOLLARS THROUGH MY CHESS PLAY TODAY

by WCM Claudia Munoz

Wichita Falls, Texas

What was supposed to be short trip to North Texas, to be a part of my Uncle David and Aunt Tara's wedding, has become an opportunity to seed in others. Overcoming Word of Praise International organized a community event to raise funds for "MEALS ON WHEELS." It is a worthy cause because because like my dad says, "a generation will be judged on how they take care of the elderly." Actually, he heard that from someone else but he couldn't remember from who.

I agree.

So, I asked the church for an opportunity to play chess during the community event in order to raise funds for "MEALS ON WHEELS." I will be charging $5 dollars for a 5-minute chess game. I intend to raise over $300 dollars playing chess today for a worthy cause.

I believe that if every chessplayer in the world were to use chess as the means to raise money for worthy causes, our world would be different.

Well, I have to go to my chessboard and do my best.

Later, I will post some pictures and results.

I GOT A ROOM AT THE SHERATON MARKET PLACE, ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE HILTON ANATOLE FOR $40 DOLLARS A NIGHT DURING THE NATIONAL SCHOLASTIC 2009 K-12

Written by Claudia Munoz
(the mother)
I hate sounding like a commercial, but I won't be needing a roommate at the Hilton Anatole for $120 per night; through www.priceline.com, I got a 3 night rate for $40 per night across the street at the Sheraton.
$146 for three nights - tax, title and license.
The entire situation started when Nam Nguyen, father of Emily Nguyen, emailed to let us know about the $38 dollar a night deal he got through www.priceline.com, at the Sheraton, across the street from the Hilton Anatole.
We quickly jumped on it and began to learn how to use www.priceline.com, my husband seemed excited by the bidding process; therefore, I will not be needing a roommate after all.
If anyone was planning to call me, thanks for thinking about us!
Priceline, if you need a chess mom as a spokeswoman...please call me!

LOOKING FOR A ROOMMATE DURING THE NATIONAL SCHOLASTIC CHESS TOURNAMENT 2009 K-12 IN DALLAS TEXAS (DECEMBER 11-13)

Written by Claudia Munoz
(the mother)
Like most chess parents, we are always searching for ways to save money in order to invest in the next chess tournament. As most of you know, this month Claudia (my daughter) represented the United States in the North American Youth Championship in Mexico - that was an expense, a good one.
My daughter will be attending the National Scholastic Chess Championship 2009 (K-12) in Dallas, Texas, December 11-13. However this time, I will be attending alone with my daughter Claudia.
My husband has to earn the bacon.
In order to reduce costs, I am searching for a roommate, a mother like me with a daughter (no fathers need apply, ha,ha!) who will also be competing in order to book a room at the Hilton Anatole, the chess rate is $120 per night at the hotel.
I will be staying with my daughter a total of three nights, however, if you are only able to stay two nights, that is good as well.
If you are interested, please call me at 830-734-2894, after 7:00 p.m. central standard time.
