www.chesscampeona.com,

AFTER ROUND TWO - After 3.5 hours and 36 moves with white, both Claudia and Sophia Schmalhorst (FIDE 1850) of Germany agreed to a draw placing her with 1.5 points of two. We consider this to be an excellent start for this World Youth Chess Championship.

The day started for us early and somewhat concerned because we had sever internet problems due to the amount of people using the Internet at that hour. We were able to download the scouting report my husband had sent on Sophia, proving to be an excellent guide on Claudia selecting a particular line to play.

Later, she went to her coaching session with International Master Armen Ambartsoumian in order for him to go over our scouting report.

We understood that Sophia has had about 100 FIDE rated games and had been to several World Youth Chess Championships in Ecuador and Vietnam, so we knew she was facing a formidable opponent.

Nevertheless, we praise God for providing us the opportunity as a family to experience this moment.

Tomorrow, round 3 at 9:00 a.m. U.S. Central Standard Time.
